Extreme Makeover: Auburn locker room edition
AUBURN,
Ala. -- Although the changes were on view for players starting Sept. 5,
the Birmingham-based company that overhauled the Auburn Tigers' locker
room at Jordan-Hare Stadium has announced completion of the project and
released photos that show the extreme makeover.
ExpoDisplays --
a designer and manufacturer of exhibits, museums and interiors -- said
the locker room overhaul is part of efforts by head coach Gene Chizik
and the Auburn athletic administration to build a championship-caliber
environment for the players.
Two Montgomery-based firms -- Infinity Architecture and LWT Communications -- collaborated with ExpoDisplays on the project.
The
new game experience for the players starts at the end of the pre-game
"Tiger Walk" as the players enter the locker room through a new
entryway complete with custom orange and blue carpet, large action
graphics of past games, orange accent lighting and "Auburn Tigers" in
large letters across the top.
Upgrades to the locker room
include blue and orange stripes around the walls, dozens of large
graphic murals of Auburn players in action, new locker nameplates
etched with the player's name and number and over a dozen large-screen
video monitors playing Auburn football highlights.
A highlight
of the new locker room is a pair of beautiful museum-style cases to
showcase Heisman Trophy winners Pat Sullivan and Bo Jackson. Each
7-foot-tall case features the winner's name in 3-dimensional letters at
the top, a life-size action photo inside, and the player's jersey,
helmet and shoes.
As they exit the locker room, players enter
Pat Dye Field with a large, lighted Auburn logo canopy overhead and
giant game action photos on either side.
