AIM program receives marketing awards

The Abstinence in Motion program in Troy has been recognized by the American Advertising Federation for its revamped marketing effort.

LWT Communications of Montgomery, which handles all of AIM’s marketing, recently received 6 ADDY awards for its work with AIM. LWT was honored with 5 gold ADDYs and one silver for its work, including designing T-shirts, advertisements and a Web site for AIM.

AIM director Cora McMaster said she has been extremely satisfied with the new look LWT Communications has created for AIM.

“This marketing material really puts us at the forefront of getting our message out,” McMaster said. “They have created eye-catching designs that engage students and help us get out our message of abstinence.”

Mary Catherine Phillips, of LWT Communications, said the group has been working with AIM for about a year in revamping the organization’s marketing. LWT designed a new Web site for AIM that features blogs, commenting and an online community through which parents and students can interact and learn more about AIM’s mission.

The Web site is being promoted to area students by access cards AIM is distributing at local schools. The cards come with a code that allows students to log into the Web site and join the online community.

McMaster said the access cards also help AIM keep track of how many students from each campus are logging in to the site.

Founded in Pike County in 1997, the AIM program is now active in eight counties, teaching abstinence from sex until marriage and living a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.
